Visions of Hildegard
(2005 - present)
Live performance with digital stop frame animation. Recorded soundtrack by M.Cheyney. 6 minutes.
Inspired by my knowledge of the drawings of Hildegard von Bingen (1098-1179)
The performance begins with a low hum of music and me crouching infront of a projection surface. A digital stop-frame animation comprised of pieces of collaged neon coloured paper slowly appears above and then beside me. I rise to standing and the performance continues as the music gets louder and more upbeat. Collages of explosions, planets and flowing shapes appear to be activated by the movements of my hands and body infront of the animation. There is a sense of a beginning, middle and an end, with the the routine climaxing and then slowing down, gradually fading back to silence and darkness.
